Description: C4: The Choral Composer/Conductor Collective seeks an Administrative Executive to facilitate the organizational aspects of the ensemble. The Executive Administrator is hired by the board of directors and reports to them. The idea candidate will be a passionate advocate for new and adventurous music with experience in nonprofit administration including fundraising, marketing, and managing volunteers. They will also be prompt and communicative, comfortable with technology and web-based organizational tools, with strong communication skills both verbally and in writing, and eager to work in collaboration with others. This is an ideal position for a working artist with experience in arts management.
About the ensemble: C4 is a professional level chamber choir specializing exclusively on music from the last 25 years. Its members are professional singers, composers, and conductors in the New York area who come together out of a deep love of contemporary music. C4 operates entirely as a collective, there is no single artistic leader and all decisions are made through committees. The Administrative Executive will help facilitate the collective organization of the ensemble and focus on administrative tasks so that the members can better focus on collective artistic decision making.
Responsibilities: C4 is a collectively run organization with enthusiastic and capable members who regularly volunteer to help administer the organization. While the below duties are the responsibility of the Executive Administrator, it is not expected that they will perform these tasks single-handedly. Rather, they are expected to engage volunteers from the ensemble and make sure these tasks get done.
General Management and Organization
Attend rehearsals (typically Thursdays from 7-10pm) and board meetings (quarterly).
Schedule and attend member committee meetings.
Liaise between the ensemble and outside organizations about potential gigs, etc.
Work with the members of the ensemble and the board to create a budget.
Answer emails to the organization and organize repertoire submissions.
Maintain our artful.ly database.
Schedule and attend regular meetings of different artistic committees within the group.
Fundraising
Coordinate the annual appeal with members from the board.
Oversee a group of volunteer grant writers from within the ensemble.
Organize one annual fundraising event per year.
Marketing
Manage social media, print/epub materials and distribution.
Create monthly newsletters.
Create and distribute audience surveys and web updates.
Production
Coordinate rehearsal and performance venues.
Manage the box office.
Design concert programs.
Hire external production contractors (recording technicians, accompanists, etc.)
Membership
Coordinate auditions.
Keep track of attendance.
Be a go-to of information for members.
Hold singers accountable for our attendance/performance policies.
