Sarian Sankoh

Sarian Sankoh is a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Theory and Composition at NYU. Sarian has studied concert composition under NYU Artist Faculty member Youngmi Ha and currently studies songwriting under Grammy and Emmy nominated songwriter and composer David Wolfert. Taking inspiration from artists like James Blake, David Lang, and Ted Hearne, Sarian hopes to create music that in some way moves others. In the summer of 2017, Sarian started her own band called SARIAN in which she is the guitarist and vocalist. Since then, the four piece group has played at various New York venues such as Mercury Lounge, House of Yes, and Pianos. They plan to release to release a four-song EP this spring.

As a vocalist, Sarian has participated in various NYU choral groups including Madrigals under Nancy Shankman and University Singers under the direction of Stanley Figaro. She is currently a member of the NYU Steel Ensemble under Joshua Quillen of Sō Percussion. Among other things, Sarian also enjoys cooking, working with children, painting along with Bob Ross videos, and making jokes on Twitter.
