Evan Johnson

Evan Shaw Johnson (b. 1998) is a composer, arranger, and performer specializing in musical theater. His musical We Are Here was a winner of the 2019 New Voices Project from New Musicals Inc. His musical The Scars of Your Body was recently presented as a featured work at the 2023 Colorado New Musical Festival. In addition to his composition work, Evan is active as a theater arranger, orchestrator, and copyist. His orchestrations for StarKid: Homecoming (Los Angeles 2019) received praise from writers Darren Criss and A.J. Holmes. His concert music has been performed by groups such as C3LA, HEX Ensemble, Apple Hill Chamber Ensemble, and the Contemporary Vocal Ensemble at CalArts. His choral music is published by See-A-Dot Music Publishing. His current projects include the musical Tapestries and the continued development of The Scars of Your Body, both collaborations with Valerie Work. He currently works as Music and Materials Associate at Broadway Licensing and holds a BFA in Composition from the California Institute of the Arts.
