Brian Hyunsuk Lee

Brian Hyunsuk Lee (he/they) likes to sing and conduct. Brian specializes in early and new music and has performed with choirs in Connecticut, Chicago, and New York. He is currently a staff member at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and a freelance performance curator who has produced festivals in Chicago that center queer and Asian American artists and experiences.
Brian is also a forager, woodworker, and grants administrator with an extensive background in funding artists and cultural organizations across New York State. During the height of the pandemic, he designed and built mid-century modern furniture (he still has great love for medullary rays, walnut burls, and birdseye maple). In his free time, Brian enjoys eating inventive vegetarian food and exploring the wilderness to hunt for edible plants and mushrooms.
Brian received his B.A. in Neuroscience & Behavior and Music and his M.A. in Performance Curation from Wesleyan University, where he directed the TTBB a cappella group The Wesleyan Spirits and the chamber ensemble The Mixolydians.
