C4 is happy to announce its 2020-2021 season, continuing our mission to explore and expand the boundaries of new choral music. This season will of course be a bit different, as we keep our plans flexible to adapt to whatever circumstances may come our way. But in one way, the season is different already, because it has been underway for months.
Over the spring and summer, we experimented with a series of livestream concerts, featuring live, remote performances by members of C4 together with members of Inversion Ensemble, our fellow choral collective in Austin, Texas. You can find recordings of these concerts on our YouTube channel. We learned a great deal about the technical and musical challenges, but also the opportunities, of this new medium, and we plan to continue these innovative concerts. On October 29, we open our season with the next livestream: Restricted Movement, featuring several world premieres, a commissioned work by Trevor Weston, and a live collaboration with Psophonia Dance Company of Houston.
Going forward, we plan to present more livestream concerts every couple of months. Simultaneously, we are working out what might be possible for safe, socially distanced in-person events in New York City, and will let you know when we have something to announce.
In the spring, we hope to be able to perform pieces by the winners of our 2020-21 IGNITE Commissioning Competition. However, as it will likely not yet be safe to perform in person by this time, we will keep you updated if those plans change. In the meantime, you may see works by these composers in our livestream concerts, so stay tuned!
See below for more information on all these initiatives. Thanks for joining C4 as we take on the challenges, both musical and nonmusical, that face us in this new world.

We are so pleased to share that the three winners of C4's IGNITE Commissioning Competition are: Germán Barboza, David Ho-yi Chan, and Alexis C. Lamb.
Each composer will write a new work for C4 to premiere. Some pieces may even be performed on a future live remote concert! We're so excited to see what these excellent composers create for C4, and we are grateful to them for their flexibility during this unusual time. Thank you also to our panel of judges: Tarik O'Regan, Kala Pierson, and Trevor Weston.
