June 2017 Concerts

ELECTRIC

C4 is excited to present an evening of new music for chorus and electrified ensemble, featuring a trio of works on the subject of love.

Anthony Korf's Cantata for chorus and jazz ensemble explores love in its different forms through poems by Millay and Cummings, and a heartfelt note from a high schooler. The music is jazzy, but with deliberate allusions to pop music — the B52s in particular.

Jonathan David's Hounds of Spring, for chorus and rock power trio, is a vigorous and rhythmic anthem to love, resurrecting the progressive rock sound of early Rush to set the words of the British romantic poet Swinburne.

Stephen Paulus' Poemas de Amor sets anonymous 16th century Spanish love poems for chorus and percussion.

Also on the program: works by Artemis Polonyi, Nicholas Rich, Casey Rule and Karen Siegel.

With guest artists:

    Miranda Cuckson, Violin
    Oren Fader, Guitar
    Andrew Funcheon, Drums
    Kaden Henderson, Bass
    Christopher Oldfather, Piano/Keyboard

    Matthew Ward, Percussion

Also at these concerts... C4's Annual Silent Auction featuring the works of Zsuzsanna Ardó.
