Gabbi Coenen

Gabbi Coenen is an Australian vocalist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. A graduate of the West Australia Academy of Performing Arts’ and The New School’s jazz voice programs, she is known for her “expansive and electrifying” songwriting and her versatile vocal abilities, which have seen her professional career span a range of genres, from modern jazz to indie pop, early to contemporary classical music, and nearly everything in between. Based in New York City and Los Angeles since 2011, she has released three EPs and an album as RVBY MY DEAR - described as “spine-tingling quasi-pop” by The Line of Best Fit, her debut album Waiting was released on digital and vinyl by Villainy Records in May 2019, and was included in Trip-Hop Nation’s Best of 2019. She has performed at the CMJ Music Marathon and the Northside Festival, and toured the Northeast and West coasts of the US multiple times.

As a vocalist, she has premiered works by world-renowned composers such as Andrew Smith (Norway) and Graham Lack (Germany), and shared the stage with a number of top Australian and American musicians, including funk legend Fred Wesley, Kristin Berardi, Katie Noonan, Victoria Newton, Mace Francis, Arturo O’Farrill, and more. She has performed at world-class American venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Apollo Theater, the 55 Bar, Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, and The Hotel Cafe; as well as prestigious Australian venues such as the Ellington Jazz Club, the Quarry Amphitheatre and the Perth Concert Hall. She is currently a soprano with vocal ensemble Khorikos, an alto with new music collective C4, and a soprano at the historic Our Lady of Victory church in Downtown Manhattan.
